Every once in awhile, you’re stumbling around Hungarian message boards and you hit upon “new” Dark Knight stills. These actually do look pretty new. Realistically, it looks like these stills were for posters that never were, as they are watermarked with the WB logo and obviously taken on a sound stage.

But, these will totally help you with your fan art, and the picture of Heath’s Joker looking up and cradling a knife is a fantastic promotional image I’m surprised we haven’t seen before.

It looks like The Dark Knight is going to be back in theaters this January, just in time for the Academy Awards voting season. Makes sense that the biggest movie of the year is going to make a run at the awards, but it’s also exciting news because a well-received re-release could push The Dark Knight ($513 mil nationally, $440 internationally and $55 at IMAX) above Titanic to become the highest-grossing film of all time.

We know the re-release will AT LEAST include the IMAX version of the film, it’s still unclear if the theatrical version will return to theaters.

On the 22nd of July, when The Dark Knight was still on the forefront of everyone’s mind, we wrote a spoilerish piece arguing a certain plot point in the film and why we thought people were missing the point.

Today, via Coming Soon and Superhero Hype!, Aaron Eckhart has crushed our well-crafted theories.

Dark Knight spoilers inside, though if you haven’t seen the movie yet, you’re one of the few.

The Dark Knight

From Coming Soon:

While we await the four-day holiday weekend estimates on Monday, Warner Bros. Pictures revealed that The Dark Knight became only the second movie in Hollywood history to surpass the $500 million mark at the domestic box office on Sunday, bringing its total to $502.4 million. Titanic, the biggest blockbuster, remains in first on the domestic chart with $600.8 million.

Dan Fellman, head of distribution at Warner Bros., said he expects The Dark Knight to finish at about $530 million, though it could reach $550 million if business persists as strongly as it has.

We’re kind of sad that there is no way that The Dark Knight is going to break free of James Cameron’s romantic stangle-hold on the top-grossing spot, but we’ll have to settle for knowing that The Dark Knight has at least done its part to change the way cinema works for the next few years.

Johnny Depp was on some Florida radio station talking about his upcoming Kids reunion Shiela Benefit show. The Kids was Johnny Depp’s rock band that he played guitar in before moving out to LA and becoming an actor.

One of the radio hosts, after talking more about The Kids and what charities their show will benefit, asks Johnny if he’s heard anything about himself being The Riddler. Depp says that he’s not as far as he know, but “It seems like it’d be a fun gig for a while, yeah.” That conversation happens around 3:43 in the below YouTube recording.

Not that this makes it any more possible and/or likely that Christopher and Jonathon will decide to include the Riddler and cast Johnny Depp, who has been the subject of Riddler rumors for at least a month already.

Above on the left is the first production still we have from I Love You Phillip Morris, the new con-man-comedy (conedy? no?) starring Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor. Based on a book by Houston Chronicle crime reporter Steve McVicker, the fact-based film casts Carrey as Steven Russell, a married father whose exploits landed him in the Texas criminal justice system. He fell madly in love with his cellmate (McGregor as Phillip Morris), who eventually was set free, which led Russell to escape from Texas prisons four times through a series of devious cons.

This one seems kind of…eh.

But between this dramatic and gay Carrey and the upcoming return to slapstick with Yes Man, Jim should find himself on the good side of the box office one of these days.

Here’s a new one: Lori Miller, a psychic from from Dearborn, Michigan claims to have been in contact with Heath Ledger recently.

”Sometimes when I’m having a session and engaged with an entity, another one will appear for no reason. That’s what happened this time. It was Heath Ledger, clear as day, looking just like he did in A Knight’s Tale only he was wearing street clothes. He looked very confident and young.”

“He looked me right in the eye and said ‘Life is too fucking short. You got to enjoy your life.’”

“Heath said he would have given up the fame and fortune just to spend more time with Matilda. Looking back at his life he realized that being driven towards having a great acting career also carried its’ share of high costs. But he didn’t seem sad at all.”

“Heath said he couldn’t have been more pleased at how the The Dark Knight turned out. He said he was extremely happy for all of his castmates. He even said he was looking out for Morgan Freeman on the night of his accident and he sent positive vibes to Christian Bale when he ran into his family troubles. He told me he would continue to act as sort of Guardian Angel for all of his friends and family. With that he smiled and disappeared.”

He just HAD to come to a psychic so people knew he was happy with The Dark Knight, because…?

It’s nice to pretend sometimes.
