After rumblings that Zac Efron was orbiting the Jonny Quest live-action project with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as a Race Banner possibility, new reports come down the line suggesting Speed Racer might have screwed Quest out of its proper name…

Yesterday, I called Dollhouse’s canceling before I headed out for whatever pre-Good Friday stuff I do, only to be semi-inundated with different opinions from fans and journos alike as to what it “really” means that FOX is not airing the 13th episode of Dollhouse.

The first point, rightly made, is that NBC did a similar thing with Journeyman and it’s season finale, only to end up showing it anyway.

Other points have to do with the details of Fox’s Dollhouse order and why episode 13 might be episode 14. Do these points mean Dollhouse might not be canceled?

Let’s see if someone can convince me otherwise…

It’s been an interesting week and a half for the “most expensive movie of all time” title.

Considering no one really reps War and Peace as the most expensive movie of all time (it is when adjusted for inflation, when it comes out to roughly $560,000,000 in 1968 money), here are the standings for non-inflated expensive movies:

1 Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End -$300,000,000

2 Spider-Man 3 - $258,000,000

3 Quantum of Solace - $230,000,000

4 Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest - $225,000,000

5 X-Men: The Last Stand -$210,000,000

6 King Kong - $207,000,000

7 Superman Returns - $204,000,000

8 The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian - $200,000,000
Spider-Man 2- $200,000,000
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines - $200,000,000
Titanic - $200,000,000

9 Indiana Jones 4 - $185,000,000
The Dark Knight - $185,000,000
The Golden Compass - $180,000,000
The Chronicles of Narnia - $180,000,000
Wall-E - $180,000,000

10 Evan Almighty - $175,000,000
Troy - $175,000,000
Waterworld - $175,000,000

So in recent memory, can you think of the two movies rumored to be the new top-title holders? If you guessed Avatar, I might believe you, but if you guessed Tron 2, well, that seems foolish. Depending on who you read, you might be right about both…

UPDATED: Jump the cut. Things looking bad for Dollhouse.

picture-8.png

Someone asked me the other day if I wanted to take one of my current projects to Fox and my response was: “If we get there, sure, but Fox is really disrespectful to its properties.” Let me count the ways: Arrested Development? Firefly? Family Guy, before Adult Swim mad them realize it was profitable?

Now, even after all the discussion about how Fox was trying to screw Dollhouse, Fox looks like it’s gonna it already screwed Dollhouse…

This, unlike some things I might possibly blog about today, is not a joke. I don’t intended to pull wool over your eyes this April 1st, because I don’t have enough ‘net sway to make a really effective joke. All I’d be doing is either making something up or re-reporting something someone else was making up. I’m going to try not to do that. I’m going to try to pull the actual news out of the day.

Which is bad news for 20th Century Fox, because the rumors that started flying last night about a workprint of X-Men Origins: Wolverine leaking online seems to be true…

It was trumpeted across the blogs last night: Transformers 4 announced for July 1st, 2011!

Paramount announced it via a Variety article and put all it’s franchise chips in Michael Bay’s massive-looking fighting robot sequel.

Too bad they didn’t ask Michael Bay, who says there’s no way we’ll see a third Transformers by 2011…
