X-Men: First Class Will Be A Franchise-Starter?

I’m not gonna lie, it’s kind of funny to see people trying so hard to un-f*ck what Bret Ratner did to this franchise…
We first heard about X-Men: First Class last July when it hadn’t even really come to fruition yet. We had Magneto and Wolverine in the Origins pipeline and the sweet taste of the The Dark Knight letting us completely forget about the X-Men.
Now, Comics Continuum has a snippet about just what X-Men: First Class will be:
Lauren Shuler Donner, who produced all three X-Men movies and the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine, said she hopes to make a franchise out of X-Men: First Class.
“It is the first class of Xavier’s school, way back when, so it’s young Scott, young Jean, young Beast and that’ll be really fun,” Donner said. “I think (the plan) is to follow some of the characters into their own stories, and weave them back into the X-Men world.
“And hopefully First Class will become its own franchise and we can follow them as they grow up.”
Donner made the comments on Fox Movie Channel’s Life after Film School. She also acknowledged that a Magneto movie remains in development.
See? All you have to do is make enough X-Men movies regardless of how good they are so that none of your character properties expire, then eventually you’ll have enough money too…
…I almost said “make a good X-Men,” but this is FOX we are talking about. The same FOX that helped Ratner f*ck up their trilogy because they didn’t give him any time or money to develop a coherent vision. And the FOX that made not one BUT TWO crappy Fantastic Four films and is now planning on “re-launching” the series while these failures are fresh in our mind.
I pray, nightly, for Marvel Studios to get the rights to the X-Men back. That and Spider-Man.
