Just so the internet remembers, I claim the rights to breaking Hunter S. Thompson novel The Rum Diary as Johnny Depp’s next project because a friend of mine auditioned for the female lead.

And because I broke that, I’m not going to pretend you can’t find this image of Johnny Depp anywhere else. It’s the first look of him as Paul Kemp, a washed-up, hard-drinking journalist in 1950s Puerto Rico. There are more set pics out there that I will be searching for, but I thought I’d post this photo so you crafty internet gentleman can use it instead of the one currently making the rounds with a garish PopSugar watermark.

UPDATE: Okay, I thought I could be a badass and find these other photos of Johnny Depp on set without the Splash News watermark, but even with it, you get a better look at some Depp costume changes. Also of note, the pictures of him in an orange shirt are cool because that shirt is a Freak Power/Gonzo shirt from Hunter S. Thompson’s campaign for sheriff in Aspen, CO. Vintage!
