If Watchmen and Transformers content is your bag around the internets, it’s quite the Friday for you, innit?

MTV has exclusive debuted the trailer for the animated Watchmen companion film, Tales Of The Black Freighter, starring Gerald Butler (300). The story is told in the Watchmen graphic novel and intercuts with the comic itself. Director Zach Snyder decided to release the Black Frieghter (and “Under The Hood” a superheor biography that is excerpted in the graphic novel) as a DVD and eventual “complete” directors cut of the film, which will intercut “Hood” and “Frieghter” into the overall Watchmen arc, just like the graphic novel.

It’s a ballsy move, and I love that Warners is trusting Snyder to calm the fans in this way.
