Chris Brown, Chris Brown.
I’m feeling a little better about this story today, because the media’s endless scouring for the the “story” behind this whole Rihanna/Chris Brown assault are actually picking up on the interesting minutia of the whole thing and still doing their fact finding jobs.
For instance, normally, this sort of thing would pass over with a few misogynistic jokes about putting your woman in place. But, because of the pop-star sized serving we got this scandal in, the information is consistently more intriguing. Like, everyone assumes Chris Brown is a jackass and did it, despite no statements of damning evidence from any official organization or party.
Chris Brown gets his songs pulled from some radio stations, Rihanna’s missing a concert and Jay-Z is rumored to have declared Brown: “a dead man…”
Here’s one for innocent until proven guilty:
Local radio station WAKS FM/ 96.5 has removed all music by pop star Chris Brown — currently under police investigation for allegedly attacking his girlfriend, 20-year-old singer Rihanna — from its on-air playlist until further notice.
“After the alleged incident the phones exploded,” Java Joel, evening host at “KISS FM” WAKS, said in a press release issued by Clear Channel. WAKS is owned by Clear Channel. “It’s all that people wanted to talk about. They were outraged at this alleged behavior and wondered why we were continuing to support his music. I agreed and immediately pulled all Chris Brown songs from my show until this thing shakes out in the legal system.”
First step: attack his livelihood. Lucky for Brown, his name is still getting repped throughout the internets, but I doubt anyone is buying boat-loads of his albums.
Rihanna canceled her show in Indonesia for the second time, but managed to do so without saying that she was all beat up:
In the meantime, Rihanna has scuttled yet another appearance of her own.
The stunning singer will not be performing in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, on Thursday, as originally planned.
This is the second time this particular show has been delayed, and it won’t likely be rescheduled.
“We spoke to Tony Goldring of William Morris Agency, and he said the concert had to be canceled because of an assault case involving Rihanna’s boyfriend,” local promoter Troy Reza Warokka told Agence France Presse.
And finally (if I were Chris Brown, I’d pay attention to this one), cocaine-dealer turned rapper turned media mogul Jay-Z is rumored to be pissed. Jay, of course, brought Rihanna up after her discovered her and mentored her through her early hits, like “Umbrella:”
The hip-hop powerhouse, who rapped “99 Problems,” was enraged when he heard that Brown allegedly beat up Rihanna, the R&B star whom Jay-Z discovered and mentored.
“He hit the roof,” a source close to him told Us Weekly. “Chris is a walking dead man. He messed with the wrong crew.”
That NYPost article goes on to establish a new timeline for the incident:
Brown, 19, allegedly left gal pal Rihanna with contusions to her face, a cut lip, bloody nose and bite marks on her arm and fingers following an argument the night before both were to perform at the Grammys.
Residents called 911 after hearing her screams, and police said Rihanna’s shrieks could be heard in the background.
“It mostly recorded the sound of a screaming woman,” LAPD Detective Deshon Andrews said.
The couple had hit a rough patch in their year long romance, according to MTV, and blog rumors swirling around the pair - including offhand re marks about infidelity and fights - didn’t help.
The LA blowup fol lowed an evening of escalating tension be tween the two, which came to a head as they drove in a Lamborghini from a party at music mogul Clive Davis’ house early Sunday and she tossed the car keys out the window, E! News reported.
“He pimp-slapped her and punched her in the face,” a friend of Rihanna told Us.
Brown then allegedly choked Rihanna and said, “I’m going to kill you,” E! News reported. When she slipped into unconsciousness, Brown allegedly fled.
