As part of my freelancer’s tips for writers, I frequently suggest a cap on how much actual punditry someone should digest. Waking up and watching the news first thing is often depressing.

As far as networks and companies go, I’m pretty wary of all NewsCorp properties with the exception of Fox Searchlight, who generally do well by their product. My own personal bias aside, it’s no secret amongst those that pay attention to the media landscape that Fox is the only network still peddling Bush-era fear in this time of economic downturn.

The great thing about our current President is that he has confirmed to Fox’s face that he knows they dislike him and will be hammering away at any decision he makes until that stops roping in the millions of news-hounds that fall to the right of MSNBC and find CNN too bland (maybe if they turned Wolf Blitzer off for awhile so he could re-charge his batteries?).

This week, Obama came right out and told Fox News that he knows they are after him, and I don’t think we’ve seen a President single out a network before…

And what a sense of humor! Now, if he’d just pay my taxes for me…
