Crank 2: High Voltage, and the several peeks we’ve gotten at it looks to be the thrill ride the first one was, just with more intimate camera shots because they used HD video to shoot it. That and instead of adrenaline, it’s electricity this time, but those two ideas are so similar, we’ll probably have trouble telling the two films apart about a week after seeing the second one.

The filmmakers have decided to embrace the sequel and the paper-thin premise that looks to be the exact same paper-thin premise from the first film. Hey, as long as they aren’t making it seem different, we’re still on board. The first Crank was a surprise we weren’t expecting and the only thing working against its sequel is that it has to surpass the craziness of the first.
