See that image from the 1987 comedy Adventures In Babysitting directly above? That’s not Elizabeth Shue there amongst those wayward youth. “That looks a lot like Miley Cyrus,” you might be saying, “why would Miley Cyrus be in Adventures In Babysitting?”

We’re hearing it might make a lot more sense come 2010…

From The Chicago Sun-Times:

Miley Cyrus has announced she’ll return for a few more episodes of her hit Disney cable show, “Hannah Montana,” and then she tackles another Disney project — a sequel to the Chicago-set 1987 comedy “Adventures in Babysitting.”

Fellow tween star Raven Symone will co-star in the sequel, currently titled “Further Adventures in Babysitting.” The movie is set for a 2010 release.

According to Variety, Tiffany Paulsen (“Nancy drew”) is writing the script.

The original “Adventures” starred Elisabeth Shue as a suburban Chicago high school senior whose dull night of babysitting is interrupted by a call for help from a friend. Madcap misadventures ensue.

Oh, glorious! By the time Hollywood is done remaking and relaunching every franchise that ever existed, we won’t have any of our childhood left. Didn’t Han shoot first? Wasn’t Jason’s mother the killer? Was there a masturbating scene in the original Psycho? Didn’t Indiana Jones involve Nazis, not Aliens? Weren’t those government agents in ET holding guns instead of radios? Doesn’t Megatron turn into a giant gun? Didn’t we stop Judgment Day (a few times)?

Jesus, leave us some pure memories!
