We have mixed feelings about the Trek relaunch, as Trek fans ourselves. However, all our doubts about the story, visuals and tone of the new old crew can be wiped away with one single argument: If the Trek series didn’t radically reinvent itself, would it survive at all?

Most of the time we thing sequels, remakes and re-imaginings are tired Hollywood excuses to be lazy and not come up with anything original, but Trek had gotten stale and maybe a JJ Abrams shot of adrenaline, sky diving, snow monsters and Spock/Kirk fights is just the way to go.

We will say this: The James T. Kirk we know would not wreck a beautiful car like that just to show off.
