For as long as we’ve known about Terminator Salvation, the tone of all new coming out of production has been about letting people know that, yes, McG is a stupid name and he made some pretty-looking, but otherwise stupid movies (we’re mostly thinking Charlie’s Angels 2), but he’s not going to screw this one up.
James Cameron may not have given his blessing to the film, but he’s not against it by any means as he points out to AICN:
As I said in an interview, for all I know it could be a masterpiece or it could be a big steaming pile. I think all people heard was the steaming pile part and concluded I was against the film, which I’m not. In fact, it might be very good, an opinion based solely on what Sam Worthington has shared with me. He’s nobody’s fool when it comes to material, and has absolutely the lowest bullshit quotient of anyone I know, and he has repeatedly told me that he reckons the film is going to be good. I know him to be very critical (in a healthy way) of his own work, and an actor who always aspires to excellence, so I know he wouldn’t praise the film if he didn’t feel it.
What we do know is that over the weekend, a leaked featurette about the design of the new Terminators leaked online, giving us our first blurry looks at the giant Harvesters, some motorcycle Terminators, under-water Terminators, and the T-600 model Terminators.
We have the FLV file saved in the B&U offices, but while the studios are traveling around the nets yanking it, we’re going to stay quiet. But, we do know where you can see it for a little while longer (Read More!)…

There are no fewer than 10 new Terminators in this film, and Laing and company have obviously thought really carefully about exactly where Skynet’s minions would be in their evolution during this time period. There’s no need for the Terminators to appear human, so they show up in various forms, including the giant Transformers-esque Harvester, the motorcycle Moto-Terminators, and the underwater versions, which you can see snapping at John Connor in a brief clip. And then there’s the T-600, the more primitive version of Arnie’s T-800 — which looks convincingly brutish and horrible. We also glimpse the (not surprisingly) depressing underground lair of the resistance against Skynet. And then there are the battle scenes, including our first real look at Sam Worthington and Anton Yelchin in action. (”Come with me if you want to live.” Ouch.)
