Is Lil Wayne’s 8-yr-old Daughter Dead?

If you weren’t one of the million-plus people who bought Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III, the industry-saving album that we can’t leave our apartments without hearing, then you might have no idea how shocking it is that this rumor/news popped up.

If you have been plagued by Lollipop like the rest of us, this little tidbit from the Post Chronicle is just about the weirdest way for this sort of news to break, especially when Lil Wayne is being labeled the “next big thing” for hip-hop.

Lil’ Wayne Daughter Killed - Reginae Carter, the daughter of Lil’ Wayne, has reportedly been killed. She was only 8 years old.

According to reports, the daughter of Lil’ Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, Reginae Carter allegedly died in a traffic accident late in the evening on August 10th, 2008.
An online celebrity site is responsible for reporting the story as fact, but there is no confirmation from any mainstream media outlets.

Lil Wayne’s Myspace page is literally covered with Reginae Carter comments about her alleged unconfirmed death tonight. Comments about Reginae Carter’s death appear on Carter’s Myspace page since 10 pm PST Sunday.

Questions about Reginae Carter have permeated the web tonight - with no answer. On Yahoo Answers, one message has been posted twice that she did not die and this is just a sad and hurtful rumor.

The following message, like the story, has not been not verified:

“Thanx to all of u who are genuinely concerned about the recent report of Reginae being killed in a car accident. It means a lot to our family to know that so many of u care (calls have been coming in to our family all day & are continuing to do so). I am pleased to inform u that this report is FALSE!! It is merely a rumor started by someone who obviously is miserable in their own skin that they would even have the notion to attack a child. Rest assured Reginae is tucked away in her bed @ this very moment trying to get past the hurt this ugliness has caused her and our family. It’s ironic however that although the evil,hellbound[EXPLETIVE] that started this hate mail did something like this to Reginae….she still said a special prayer for them 2nite. This is Nae’s Aunt & all of the responses that I wanted give all went out the window when I heard that prayer. So to all of our extended family & friends & fans…please join us in saying a special prayer for the lost soul who simply had nothing better to do….be sure to include .. LORD please forgive them…for they know not what they do”. We love u all,we thank u…and we hope u will spread the good news…Nae-Nae is okay…smile God loves U!!”

So has Lil Wayne’s daughter died in a car crash only to be reported through MySpace?

UPDATE: New reports suggest that Reginae is just fine. Whew.
