Shia LeBeouf’s crushed hand and impending surgical solutions has set back production for Transformers 2, despite the best efforts of the cast, crew and production company.

Initially, we heard that only two days of production would be lost when Bay and crew shuffled Josh Duhamel’s scenes forward in the schedule to allow for Shia’s surgery and “healing.” Though now, TFW is reporting that the first unit production team has been given a four-week hiatus and the second unit continues their LaBeouf-less shooting schedule (probably lots of fun explosions and car-flipping for the second unit this month)

With half of this movie being made in post-production and the benefit of Revenge of the Fallen being a sequel, just on a larger scale, it’s expected that the CGI guys will be turning their wheels non-stop to give us giant robots by June 26th. The rest of the crew gets to sit on their laurels and wait for their lead to get the eff out of the hospital, go to rehab or whatever.

Knowing studios like we do, they’ll gladly rush the rest of principal photography rather than moving the date of release, so expect no further delays.
