The Hollywood Reporter rumor currently circulating is that Apocalypse Now youngin’ and Wachowski Mage Lawrence Fishburne is in talks to take of William Peterson’s leading role in the one true CSI, the one that take place in Sin City.

No one knows for sure who CBS Paramount is really looking at to take over their procedural flagship, but we do know that the new character is described as : “a doctor/scientist outsider to the CSI unit who has the same genetic profile as a serial killer but hasn’t previously acted on any homicidal impulses.”

Rumored follow-ups, should Fishburne feel above TV procedurals (or at least ask the long-standing question: why do these lab geeks get to make arrests?)?

John Malkovich and Kurt Russell.

We say ditch the idea of Malkovich and hold out for Russell or Fishburne. Then, maybe, we’ll start watching again.
