An interesting little rumor has been passed around the internets amongst comic fans. A mag called Production Weekly outlines all the films in pre-production, production and post-production for the industry types who are willing to pour through vague log-lines and titles that don’t make a lot of sense (this week’s groaner: “George Romero’s Diary Of The Dead 2,” blech).

SuperHeroHype happened to notice a isting for X-Men: First Class.

There are two options for this film. The first and most likely option is that this is the title chosen for the much-rumored Young X-Men that would logically follow X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X-Men Origins: Magneto. The other, and frankly more exciting, option is that someone is planning to base a movie on the comic series written by Jeff Parker and pencilled by Roger Cruz, described thusly:

For millions of years, mankind’s place on Earth was unchallenged – until five young people paved the way for a new kind of human. While students at the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters, Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Angel, Beast and Iceman taught the world what it meant to be X-Men. These are the hidden stories of the team that laid the foundation of a mutant dynasty!

Heading over to X-MenFirstClass.com re-directs you to FoxMovies.com, so something is being done with this title.

Though we love Hugh Jackman and his spot-on portrayal of Wolverine, it would be nice to check out an X-Team without him brooding all over it. Hopefully, Fox takes some tips from the rest of the unified Marvel universe and figures out a way to put Ice Man where he needs to be, instead of his limp, non-Ice version that appeared in the original trilogy. Not to mention Angel’s late and underwhelming appearance in X3.

AHHHHH! Did we just reference “the original” X-Men trilogy? We remember when that shit was just rumors and fanboys bitching about Bryan Singer messing with their characters. We’re old!
