We’ve heard whisperings for months that Ghost In The Shell was headed into pre-production again — this time as a live action, 3D property. Last week it was officially confirmed at Comic-Con and it’s now on IMDB.

If IMDB says it, it must be true.

Ghost’s producer, Steven Paul is obviously qualified to helm the project, having brought us hits such as Ghost Rider, Doomsday and Bratz. Ghost In The Shell is an epic though and shouldn’t be undertaken lightly. That’s why you bring in the big guns.

Paul had this to say about the production:

We’re going to do it with Steven Spielberg and DreamWorks. We’re now in the process of working with the writer and putting the story together. Ghost in the Shell is a passion project of Steven Spielberg’s … It’s really something that he’s been in love with for many years.

No word yet on what role Spielberg will play in bringing the film to fruition; a director is, as of yet, not attached.
