Some awesome stuff is coming out of San Diego for both the casual film fan and the super-geek comic/cartoon/action-figure/film sect.
Sadly, Dave is in Golden Colorado, writing all this to you while he simultaneously irons his slacks, cleans his jacket and looks up how to tie neckties in knots that aren’t double or single Windsor (that’s so boring). Dave could not be farther from Comic Con, but he’s keeping his ear to the ground with everyone else.
Below the cut, we’ll show you the new Terminator Salvation poster and point you in the direction of Terminatior panel coverage, we’ll discuss Dollhouse’s reshot pilot from the Joss Whedon panel, we’ve got some info on the Land of the Lost teaser, and I Am Legend prequel!
This poster was snagged by Coming Soon for the new Terminator movie:

The robot shown is very obviously the T-600, the large chunkier Terminator built before the T-800 (Arnold’s model). McG claims that the design (an original Stan Winston design!) is based on a Russiantank: huge and almost unstoppable.
The earlier still we received from the movie looks like it’s going to be thematically key, since the helicopter crash leaves only Conner alive, then Bale puts one between the Terminator’s eyes, making the poster above.
Other key details covered everywhere: McG said that they are just going to make the film as is and worry about a PG-13 or R-rating later. If it ends up being an R-rated film, McG is confident that the studio will back it.
Some footage was shown, and based on AICN’s description cobbled together with Coming Soon’s description raises more questions about Sam Worthington’s mystery character.
On the Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse front, Joss confirmed that he’s shooting a second pilot that will be more of a prequel to the original pilot, now slated to be episode two:
Writer/creator Joss Whedon told attendees of the “Dollhouse” panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday that he is shooting a second pilot to the new Fox drama in order to better introduce viewers into the world he is creating with the show. Whedon said while he is pleased with the pilot that already exists, the new one – planned as a prequel at this stage – is aimed at better setting-up some of the back story to the Dollhouse organization as well as its cast of characters.
Whedon admitted that Fox was a bit weary of the initial pilot and how the viewer would be thrust into the “Dollhouse” world with well-established characters and little introduction. He added that the decision to do the second shoot was in no way a slam against the initial pilot, which he said he believes is great.
The Land of the Lost panel had two pieces of footage, first a teaser trailer that might have been a Comic Con exclusive:
Will Ferrell sits on a stool beneath a spotlight in an old, darkened room strumming on a banjo and slowly singing the original theme. He makes it about halfway through and then looks up saying, “I always forget this part. Does anyone remember the words?” Words flash across the screen: MARSHALL, WILL, HOLLY, ROUTINE EXPEDITION. The scene comes back to Will, trying again to sing but having to mumble through some of the words. “LAND OF THE LOST, 2009″ appears and the teaser ends.
Will Farrell made a pre-taped appearance at the panel, then it was closed out with another teaser that should be popping up online within the month:
White on black text reads:
10 thousand pounds
Over 20 feet tall
Driven by hunger
Never before witnessed by man
The scene cuts to a dinosaur walking through a prehistoric jungle. In the foreground, Will Ferrell looks directly into the camera with his back to the creature.
“He’s right behind me, isn’t he?” says Ferrell, “I’m just trying not to move.”
The theme comes up and it cuts to the “Land of the Lost, 2009″ text.
The last bit of info from the Con: Francis Lawrence, the director of I Am Legend, the second-highest grossing non-sequel of 2007 has confirmed that he’s looking into a Legend prequel and that Will Smith is totally into it.
Wedding time! From The B&U to Kate and Elliot Goldbaum: Congratulations! We’ll be drinking wine and trying not to sneak out and check up on Comic Con.
