RIP Stan Winston
We are getting news from multiple sources that Stan Winston, the creature effects master behind Jurassic Park, Terminator, Predator - basically every monster you’ve loved - has died.
Winston was part of Dave’s childhood since he saw Aliens, the first film in the Alien franchise that he was allowed to watch as a youth. The Alien Queen was the most impressive monster he had ever seen on screen, followed soon by the monstrous T-Rex from Jurassic Park.
Stan won oscars for Aliens, Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park. He was nominated for his work on Heartbeeps, Edward Scissorhands, Batman Returns, Predator, The Lost World and A.I.

Steve Wang, known effects maestro, sent out a myspace bulletin saying he’s confirmed it with the shop. This is an incredibly sad day. Word is cancer, but I don’t know anything past that.
