Oh, poor HBO. We’re subscribers, but we’re always thinking about dumping it for Showtime (we aren’t made of money, here). There’s always something coming up on HBO that we have high hopes for. Sometimes it lives up to those hopes (Recount) and sometimes it jerks us around for hours before we realize the journey wasn’t worth it (John Adams). But it’s never another Sopranos or Six Feet Under.

The grass is always greener on the other side, especially when we’re making jokes about Showtimes’ Weeds. But, up until now, Weeds was the only Showtime show that had us downloading illegally. Looks like we have to man up and make a decision…or just download one more show…

The United States of Tara was based on an idea by Steven Spielberg and a pilo written by Juno-scribe Diablo Cody. Toni Collette stars as Tara Gregor, a wife and mother of two teenagers who also suffers from multiple personality disorder.

Showtime ordered 13 half-hour episodes and will begin shooting this summer.

You can get all the info and some boring prose over at THR.
