Have you heard that James McAvoy is up for the lead in Peter Jackson and Guillermo Del Toros two Hobbit movies?

Where on earth would you hear that?

How about this one: Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous, Wristcutters) or Michael Angarano (Sky High) are on the short list for picking up the role of Peter Parker in Spider-Man 4 (and maybe 5)?

Well, read on, guys. We doubt either of these are true.

Anyway, the story is that James McAvoy is on the short list for picking up the Bilbo Baggins role from old/talented guy Ian Holm. Thing is, there is NO SCRIPT yet. It was said in the transcript, and there are rumors that Del Toro and Jackson have discussed who they want to play The Hobbit, but with NO SCRIPT, it would be foolish to leak casting choices this early, especially after they did a webchat this holiday weekend.

All the evidence we need comes from you guys and different sites, all of them taking notice of all news Hobbit. With that much publicity for a film that still DOESN’T HAVE A SCRIPT, why would Del Toro and Jackson leak something as key as casting? They wouldn’t, and didn’t, and any actor that is rumored to get a part this far in advance actually has his chances reduced (Like how we though Christian Bale would be the next James Bond, not Daniel Craig).

As for the Spidey rumors, we also ignored those. For the exact same reason.
The only solid Spidey news we’ve had has been about the script or about the money. When Sony happened to buy up the option for more Spider-Man pics around the same time we heard that there were writers on board, the internet kicked into overdrive.

Sony’s head of media relations even got on the phone with IESB and said: “No one is being considered for the role but Tobey. Period.”

Which is fine, because Maguire probably won’t do it anyway. More importantly: NO SCRIPT = no casting. Unless we have a situation like The Incredible Hulk when the lead actor (Norton) came on to do some writing (before disowning the film).

We don’t know jack, just though we’d let you in on how these casting rumors work.
