Is it just us, or has Michael Bay and David Berenbaum’s Platinum Dunes production company getting a little cocky? “We want to remake Friday the 13th” was semi-expected in the current Hollywood climate, where you only have to trick people into seeing a movie opening weekend to get your next project funded, but “Let’s make a Ouija Board movie” is just plain bold.
It might be a really stupid idea, but it’s too early to call. We do know some information, but not enough to whip out the post of judgment (where did “post” come from?)…
From non-linkers THR:
Although the specific log line for the film is being kept under wraps, the film will be a supernatural adventure with the Ouija board playing an integral part of the story. The movie is not taking a “Jumanji”-like approach, which involved a game coming to life.
Hasbro is co-producing the film with Platinum Dunes, so we’re kind of glad that the Ouija board isn’t going to come to life and be voiced by Eddie Izzard.
Dave had a Ouija board once, but a devout Christian relation blessed the damn board before he could use it. Is the Ouija/Satan connection that was bolstered by the board’s appearance in The Exorcist going to be the lynch-pin of this film or are Hasbro and Dunes going to wuss out in fear of pissing off the Christian market?
