Is the Joker action figure in some way a posthumous tribute or is it just a hunk of creepy plastic?

Fans of both Ledger and the Batman franchise have been going crazy over the Mattel issued action figure which hit stores this month. Some say it’s a bad likeness, while others say it looks too much like the deceased actor. Mostly, they’re buying the thing like it’s going out of style.

It kind of is; the rumornet says Mattel is making a new version to stem (read encourage) the tide of controversy surrounding it.
