In Hancock, Will Smith plays a drunken, surly superhero who hires a PR rep (Jason Bateman) to hone his image for the public.

This is trailer number three that includes a lot of footage from Trailer #2, but nonetheless, very few people are giving Hancock the credit it deserves. Is it just another superhero spoof movie starring Will Smith? Yes.

But break that down. A superhero movie. Starring Will Smith.

Both of those buzz phrases get you millions in the box office. Add in the fact that it is seeing release on July 2nd – the weekend that might as well be called “Will Smith Weekend” – the July 4th weekend.

Throw Hancock into the gap between Indiana Jones and The Crystal Skull and The Dark Knight and Smith will be cleaning up in early July.

What? You’re planning to see the Sex In The City Movie instead? You must be a woman.

Take Hancock seriously. If you think Iron Man’s weekend is shaping up to be big, just remember: no one is saying Iron Man is even going to be in the top 3 box office draws this summer. Those belong to Indy, Batman…and Hancock.
