This is all sorts of internet and horror coolness, so we’re pretty psyched.

If you don’t spend the majority of your time on the internet, chances are you might have missed the LonelyGirl15 phenomena. It was unique in several different ways, most notably, it was one of the first internet serialized series to surf the line between full on ARG (Alternate Reality Game) and eerily bizarre YouTube blog.

LonelyGirl15 was presented as a girl named Bree who video blogged on several different online sites. Slowly, her story developed into a full-on plot about her parent’s possible Satanism, her boyfriend, a whole bunch of serialized drama.

LonelyGirl15 was outed as Jessica Rose, a New Zealand actress who is now on ABC Family’s Greek who had paired with Miles Beckett, a doctor turned filmmaker who was passionate about making online content. They both used Creative Arts Agency to set up the websites under a series of fake names that were eventually discovered by the national media, once the LonelyGirl15 phenomena was picked up on the news.

Episodes from the series continue to be posted, though Rose’s character Bree seems to have died in an act of self sacrifice during the last episode of “season 1.”

Now, Jessica Rose has re-surfaced for another online serial, this time in the horror genre. It’s called Blood Cell and is controlled by online content distributor 60 Frames, who has recently launched the official website, complete with trailer and the ability to sign up for e-mail alerts.

As far as we can tell, if the cell phone dies, the friend dies.

Other than that, we’re just excited that the sphere of online serialized entertainment is expanding. Blood Cell is going to be an horror project that is free, so we’ll stick with it as long as it stays interesting.

Wouldn’t you rather have to sort through 5 online serial films per month than continually pay $10 to see something that might not even be that good (says the guy who saw 21 last night…)?
