Yes, the Justice League movie is still happening. We don’t know why, since we’re fairly sure the story revolves around a young Justice League that may or may not be put in danger when a certain villain may or may not get a hold of an invention Batman has been holding on to just in case his Justice League lackeys got out of line.
If you saw that Justice League animated film about the robots that stole the Justice League’s powers only to have Batman unveil that he has a gadget to take down each JL member, think that, but without giant robots.
It could be cool, but the buzz is already against it. In a world where Marvel is taking their sweet time on a team-film, dropping Hulk allusions in Iron Man and the other way around, a JL bomb could kill the industry view of an Avengers movie, which would just be sad.
Anyway, here’s an interesting rumor from Cinema Blend:
One such report rolled into my inbox tonight from a CB reader named Candace, who says she managed to corner Adam Brody in a [British Columbia] bar and get him talking about JLA. What he told her is kind of a shocker. Here’s her story: “I asked Brody to sign a napkin, and asked what he/they were doing here. They’re in BC to check out locations for their new superhero movie Justice League is Mortal. Brody pointed at Miller and said “George is our director”. He said he’s playing The Flash, Common is playing Green Arrow (or Lantern, one or the other), Armie Hammer (sounded like Arm and Hammer) is Batman, someone from “mad max” is Martian Man-hunter (didn’t catch the name) and Hayden Christensen is Superman. Brody also nodded to the woman to his right and said “she (he said her name but i didnt catch it) is in it too”. Oh, and they had lots of drinks.”
This makes sense since JL turned down Australian tax cuts to film elsewhere, though it’s weird they are in a random bar…
Wait.
Hayden Christiansen is Superman?!?!?!
Dammit! Didn’t we learn our lesson when we made him the whiney incarnation of Darth Vader?
Don’t get us wrong, we gave Hayden his fair day in court. Soon after his casting in Ep II, we picked up Life As A House, where he gives an amazing brooding and whiney performance. We just thought that Star Wars would be different.
Turns out, Hayden Christiansen either can’t act or chooses to accentuate the brooding whineyness in every performance.
And Supes can be brooding, but he does not complain.
Bad JuJu on this one. Let’s hope it’s false.
