“Money.”
Show me the money? Ding! Ding! Ding!
Heath Ledger’s family is a-fussin’ and a-fuedin’ over Heath’s father’s management of Heath’s estate. Ledger’s will was old and therefore, all his assets went to his family, not his ex-partner Michelle Williams and their daughter Matilda.
The Ledger family gracefully accepted the money, telling the media that Michelle and Matilda “will be taken care of,” and managed not to add: “But seriously, when is Michelle going to be in better movies? Man can’t support his family on Batman money alone.”
Now Heath’s father, Kim Ledger, has some brothers speaking out to the celebrity media, claiming that Kim plunged their grandfather’s estate into deep debt in Australia.
Mike Ledger, the pissy Uncle, is suggesting that the family re-arrange the Ledger estate and take it out of Kim’s hands.
“Our only vested interest is to assure that Matilda is well looked after…When you are talking about large sums of money like this,” he says, “it should be an independent executor, but Kim hasn’t chosen that way.”
This just brings to mind the sordid history of Dave’s family, who used to be filthy rich with the patent on one of the early models of the washing machine.
Sadly, greedy relatives sold that off, leaving Dave a penniless writer, forced to write in the first person plural, even on days when he is horribly poor and alone.
