Fox is going to go all in to try and get everyone to come back to 24 after season six was generally considered so crappy that the writers got a lecture from the suits.
After that, 24 went through a series of setbacks going into the writer’s strike. Things we have covered extensively, and things some of you 24 fans didn’t want to hear (shark jumping). Not to mention they locked up Keifer Sutherland for awhile and no one really noticed ‘cause the strike was on.
Now this from THR:
Fox’s “24″ will be returning in the fall, after all.
The producers of the Emmy-winning series are developing a two-hour “prequel” to the upcoming seventh season.
The movie, designed to bridge the two-year gap between Seasons 6 and 7, is targeted to air in the fall, leading to the January return of the real-time drama. On Wednesday, “24″ producers began securing the show’s core cast members for the film.
24 has done things like this to us before. We remember waiting around online in December 2006 only to see a 10 minute prequel to season six that was little more than a car ad. And Bauer didn’t even talk during it!
Not to mention 24 is supposed to be signed on to do real movies sometime in the future, assuming the show doesn’t self-destruct on itself.
We want 24 to do better, we have great memories of 24, especially after we found a bar in New York that give out free shots when Jack kills anyone.
