If you were a fan of the OC, brace yourself: Marissa Cooper got busted for a DUI early this morning in LA.

And official press release from the LA Sheriff’s Department released a statement in ALL CAPS! WTF, Sheriff’s Department?

- DEPUTIES FROM WEST HOLLYWOOD SHERIFF’S STATION STOPPED A VEHICLE DRIVEN BY ACTRESS MISCHA ANNE BARTON AFTER HER VEHICLE WAS SEEN STRADDLING TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC AND FAILED TO SIGNAL WHEN MAKING A TURN.

DURING MS. BARTON’S DETENTION, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT SHE WAS AN UNLICENSED DRIVER AND WAS DRIVING WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF AN ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE.

MS. BARTON WAS ARRESTED AND TRANSPORTED TO WEST HOLLYWOOD SHERIFF’S STATION WHERE THE BOOKING PROCESS WAS COMPLETED WITHOUT INCIDENT.

SHE IS BEING HELD IN LIEU OF $10,000 BAIL. THE INVESTIGATION IS ONGOING AT THIS TIME.

This is interesting, because most early reports also list Mischa as in possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. Yet, through the miracle of celebrity justice, this detail seems not to have been addressed since the “official” police report came about.

It looks like Mischa Barton has slid in to my 2007 mug shot collection just in time. If she had waited 5 more days, she wouldn’t be amongst the like of Lohan, Hilton, Sutherland and other actual stars.

2007 continues to the be the year of DUIs and jail time.
