Rarely is Simon Cowell more forgiving than the American public, but most recent American Idol winner Jordin Sparks found out the hard way that this is not always true after getting dumped on in the Billboard charts, MTV.com reports.
“Dumped on” is of course a relative term, as Sparks still sold 119,100 copies and made it to the #10 spot on the charts, an enviable position for any artist that hasn’t had so much face time on Fox in the months preceding the album’s release. But it also represents the lowest debut of any American Idol winner on the charts to date, below even Fantasia Barrino’s paltry debut at #8.
It is unclear at this time whether or not Phillipi Sparks, Jordin’s dad and former NFL star, will be able to bully more people into buying his daughter’s album.
